That’s right!
The event will be held Aug 21st - Aug. 23rd 2009 and there will be quite a lot of activities taking place during that weekend. Starting Friday Aug 21st will be the Alley Hoops & Hopes seminars for our youth during the day and later at 7:00 to 9:30 PM will be Alley Hoops Ram Jam celebrity tournament thereafter the kick off Alley Hoops Ram Jam celebration party. On Aug 22nd - Aug. 23rd will be the best 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament.
Teams will pay
a registration fee for the opportunity to compete
for top-quality trophies, vacation and sponsors
paraphernalia. Each bracket is broken into Men’s
and Women’s Divisions, the Out to Pasture Division
and Junior Division (ages 8-10, 11-12, 13-14,
15-17). The court setup will allow fans, friends
and families to follow their team’s progress while
participating in event attractions that can be
enjoyed by the entire family.
There will be
live entertainment from local and national music
artists. Autograph signings from sport and
entertainer celebrities are scheduled and they
will be judges to dunk contest. A Jamaican
drummer will wow the crowd and there will be
bouncing air balloons, free face painting and
other entertaining events for children.
Alley Hoops Jam is a community-based project that
supports businesses, gives back to the community
and helps participants reach their highest
abilities. In addition to being a fun event for
all, the 'Jam' will feature vendor stations from
local and regional colleges to promote higher
education. We are also sponsoring a community
fund-raiser to cover expenses for kids who cannot
afford entry fees.
With Detroit’s summer
blockbuster attracting so many celebrities, there
is no doubt that Alley Hoops Jam is the 'real
deal'!
The 'Jam' will be open on “Bell
Isle” from 8 am until 5 pm Saturday and Sunday,
Aug 22nd and Aug 23rd, 2009. Online
registration is now open. You can also mail-in
registrations. Mail in registration is available
until Aug 8th, 2009. The deadline for online
registration is Aug 15th, 2009. Early registration
helps determine court scheduling, so sign up
today.
