Time Warner Cable presents Alley Hoops Jam. Big-time, street hoop mania arrives in the heart of the “Queen City”. This is the best 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament and Dunk Contest Charlotte has ever seen. It offers a tournament and live entertainment experience that is positive for players, coaches, parents and spectators alike.

Teams will pay a registration fee for the opportunity to compete for cash prizes, top-quality trophies, and sponsors paraphernalia. Each bracket in the Mens and Womens Divisions has $2,000 in prize money. The Media Division, Out to Pasture Division and Junior (15-17) Division have $1,000 each in prize money. Each bracket in the Junior Division (ages 8-10, 11-12, 13-14) has $500 in prize money. The court setup will allow fans, friends and families to follow their team’s progress while participating in event attractions that can be enjoyed by the entire family.

There will be live entertainment from local and national music artists. Autograph signings from sport celebrities are scheduled as are performances from the Bobcats Dance Team. A renowned Jamaican drummer will wow the crowd and there will be bouncing air balloons and other entertaining events for children.

Alley Hoops Jam is a community based project that supports businesses, gives back to the community and helps participants reach their highest abilities. In addition to being a fun event for all, the 'Jam' will feature vendor stations from local and regional colleges to promote higher education. We are also sponsoring a community fund-raiser to cover expenses for kids who cannot afford entry fees. This fund-raiser will be hosted by our very own Tone-X, NBA Charlotte Bobcats announcer and official Bad Boy of Comedy. Hip Hop Rap Artist Gotti from Universal Records will co-host.

At our March 'Jump Ball' Fundraising Launch Party, national recording sensation Hoopz from (VH1-TV's Flava of Love) was our guest of honor to help raise funds for kids. Along with other celebrities, Hoopz will be a judge for the Dunk Contest. She also will be playing in the tournament against the winner of the fan drawing on the main court.

Other celebrities who've signed on to appear at Alley Hoops Jam are: Mix master DJ Kay Slay who will be a judge for the Dunk Contest and host DJ the celebrity after-party on Saturday evening; Hip-Hop legend Doug E. Fresh who will co-host Sunday's festivities; So So Def master blaster, DJ Nabs who DJs for Jermaine Dupri will co-host the celebrity after-party on Sunday evening.

Rounding out Alley Hoops Jam will be Atlantic Records recording artist, Little Brother who will perform at 3 PM on Saturday, June 17^th. Using Rap as a metaphor to reach the masses, the Durham-based trio will be performing hits from their highly acclaimed album, The Minstrel Show, which addresses many issues surrounding African-American culture.

With Charlotte’s summer blockbuster attracting so many celebrities, there is no doubt that Alley Hoops Jam is the 'real deal'!

The 'Jam' will be open on "The Square" from 8 am until 5 pm Saturday and Sunday, June 17^th and 18^th , 2006. Online registration is now open. You can also mail-in registrations. The deadline for online registration is June 1, 2006. Mail-in registration is available until June 14, 2006. Early registration helps determine court scheduling, so sign up today.
